Radiant Body Yoga

Project Description

I had the opportunity to work with the delightful Danielle Avila on this site for yogini Kia Miller. Kia Miller’s new Radiant Body Yoga site required e-commerce, events, video management, faceted search, and a teacher directory.

For this site I created a highly customized adaptation of the Envy Pro child theme for the Genesis Framework and called it Enviable. Instead of featured products on the home page, Kia wanted featured events, and later a space for her Facebook Like box.

Another requirement was the horizontal opt-in bar, displayed on all pages that have custom headers and don’t have another call to action on them. Kia uses Namaste Light to manage her email list; after figuring out how to set up the Genesis eNews Extended widget with Constant Contact, it wasn’t too much trouble to get it working with Namaste Light.

Kia participates in many different types of events and needed expanded event management capabilities. We used the excellent Events Calendar Pro plugin from Modern Tribe. I particularly wanted the photo view for the main event page. I customized the event list widget to show featured images and display horizontally in a new home page widget area. I also created an event shortcode to display an event list with featured images on the Festival and Retreat pages.

Kia particularly wanted to improve the registration experience for people applying to her teacher trainings. The existing solution, which relied on PayPal, was clumsy. Kia wanted anyone, from any country, to be able to apply for her yoga teacher training. I had GoDaddy install an SSL certificate and set up a Stripe account for Kia. The Gravity Forms + (More) Stripe plugin from Gravity Plus Pro was essential for this, because Kia needed to be able to save credit card numbers but not charge them until after she had approved the application.

The previous application forms had been done with Google Docs and were not very sophisticated. The new forms use conditional logic to show only the fields relevant to the applicant.
